According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2017), 1 in 160 children has Autism Spectrum Disorder. In Malaysia (as reported in 2014), it is estimated 1 in every 600 children is born with Autism. Many cases are still unreported while some are misdiagnosed. According to the CDC (USA), prevalence could hit up to 1 in every 45 children.

    About us

    The Happy Leaves is…

    an Autism and Special Needs therapy centre which truly offers a one-stop solution for individuals with learning difficulties and psychological concerns. Our services include thorough assessments by registered Clinical Psychologists as well as highly-individualised behaviour therapy and psychotherapy for children and adults.

    We accept a range of children with learning difficulties (e.g. ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Mild Intellectual Impairment) and provide an environment for them to freely express themselves without judgement. Children are taught individually or in small groups, and we also offer arts and music programmes.

    Our holistic approach integrates the expertise of clinical psychologists, behaviour therapists, special needs educators, a family medicine specialist, school personnel and more, so every aspect of your child's health is cared for.

    Our vision: a leading multidisciplinary and holistic organisation, promoting a warm and friendly community that supports the growth of individuals with learning and socio-emotional challenges.

    Our founder

    “I have been struggling to help my autistic son since the day he was diagnosed. I am sure there are many more parents who are eagerly looking for great therapists who can advise and treat their kids.

    I wanted to build a centre which focuses on the child's growth and values their unique strength. I want to see these children smile happily and enjoy their lives. With the help of my team, I want to share the wonderful moments of parents being able to interact meaningfully with their special kids.”

    In loving memory. We hold dear the memory of Dato Sri' Tee Lip Sin, beloved husband of our founder, who passed away in 2026. His warmth and generosity remain part of The Happy Leaves, and his legacy lives on in every child and family we serve.

    Our co-founder

    Dr. Ellie Han Yung Lin

    Consultant Clinical Psychologist · Clinical Director since 2017

    Ellie has guided The Happy Leaves' clinical work since the centre opened. Her PhD research at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia focused on autism screening and early intervention, and led to the validated Malay translation of the M-CHAT-R/F, the toddler autism checklist now used by families and clinicians across Malaysia.

    Alongside her practice, Ellie lectures and supervises Master's students in Clinical Psychology and Counselling for several universities, such as Taylor's University, HELP University, UCSI University and Monash University, and trains fellow professionals as an HRDF-accredited trainer. She works with families in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay, and in 2025 founded our sister centre, Rainforest Psychological & Consultancy Services, to care for adolescents and adults.
